Company Profile

In 1989, Pak Media Foundation was incorporated under the Companies Ordinance 1984 with the primary objectives of the promotion, welfare, education, and well-being of journalists as well as all segments of the society belonging to media and the public at large.

The Foundation, right from its incorporation, played its role and made untiring efforts to achieve its cherished goals. One of these was the provision of constructed flats to the media persons for their resilience. Through strenuous efforts and overcoming financial constraints and enormous hardships, the flats were ultimately completed and handed over to the journalist allottees.

This report primarily presents information on progress and achievements made in the period from 2019 to 2021. In three years, several activities were executed and implemented smoothly; however, Covid-19 in 2020 posed some disturbances in project activities.

1. Donation to “Diamer- Bhasha Dam Fund”

Pakistan ranks third in the world among countries facing acute water shortages. It is an impending crisis, with the Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources (PCRWR) predicting that the country will soon be facing a drought-like situation. For any country, water resources and storage are very important.

The main purpose of the dam is water storage, irrigation, and the generation of electricity. Water storage is very important for the next Pakistani generation.

The government of Pakistan has also started an important mega project for the construction of the Diamer Bhasha dam which would prove to be a game-changer for the country.

The Government of Pakistan has established a fund “Diamer Basha and Mohmand Dam Fund 2018” for raising funds to construct dams in Pakistan.

The Pak Media Foundation decided to donateRs. 50,000/- (Fifty Thousand Rupees) for this national cause.

2. Book Publishing

Many of the newand emerging writers in Pakistan are not in a position financially to publish their books.Pak Media Foundation considers it our duty and aim to support such writers and has been encouraging and helping new authors for many years. We seek to make a positive impact by promoting education and literacy and supporting our authors and their freedom of expression. In this regard, we published a book of poetry written by the renowned Mr. Hafeez Tahir.

The Foundation will continue to help and support writers, columnists, and journalists in the future as well.

3. Programs Organized in our “Quid-e-Azam Auditorium”

The Pak Media Foundation has a fully furnished auditorium inside the premises of the building, which is owned and operated by the Foundation. The hall has the capacity to seat up to 300 people at a time, with the provision of essential facilities inclusive of installed lighting, full power backup/generator services, backstage space, washrooms, car parking, cleaning services after build-up and during event days, surveillance through CCTV cameras, three safety exits, etc.

4. Donation to Covid-19 Fund

The outbreak of the corona virus initiated as pneumonia of unknown cause in December 2019 in Wuhan, China, and has now spread rapidly to other countries. The WHO has warned Pakistan that the country could encounter great challenges against the outbreak of corona virus in the coming days. The first case of corona virusin Pakistan was reported on February 26, 2020. With increasing cases of immensely contagious Covid-19, Pakistan’s economy is under great deterioration.

The Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Imran Khan, has requested the Pakistani community to extend all possible assistance to the government in its battle against Covid-19, as individuals as well as in a collective capacity.

On 13th May 2020, the Pak Media Foundation paid donations amounting to Rs. __________ to the PM’s Covid-19 fund.

5. Plantation in Islamabad

Trees and plants play a major role in improving the urban landscape and help protect the city environment. Trees and plants meet different needs for food, shelter, energy, and aesthetics in the city.

In light of this, the Pak Media Foundation celebrated “a plantation day”,in collaboration with students and journalists, on 7th March 2021 in G-8 Markaz Islamabad, during which several trees were planted. 

6. Financial Help for Journalists during Covid-19

In the first quarter of 2020, the world was faced with the Covid-19 pandemic.Globally, stock markets nosedived, factories were shut down, global trade and supply chains were severely disrupted, airports were deserted, offices had stopped their operations, and shops remained closed to contain the pandemic outbreak. The pandemic also worsened income disparity and poverty in the world.

In these desperate circumstances, we received applications for financial help from journalists. The Board decided to immediately help them, and we paid Rs. 200,000 to journalists in need belonging to various newspapers.

7.Medical Facilitation for Journalists and their families.

The Pak Media Foundation has been working to provide basic medical assistance to journalists and their families who live in the residential area since 2016. The Pak Media Foundation, in joint collaboration with Capital Diagnostic Centre, provides medical assistance to journalists and their families.

8. Dialogue Programs for Journalists and writers

A dialogue is a forum that draws participants from many parts of the community to exchange information face-to-face, share personal stories and experiences, honestly express perspectives, clarify viewpoints, and develop solutions to community concerns.Unlike debate, dialogue emphasizes listening to deepen understanding and allows people to learn to work together.

8. Yaraan-e-Sahafat-o-Adab

To facilitate dialogue, the Pak Media Foundation arranges a program titled “Yaraan-e-Sahafat-o-Adab” for journalists and writers.

The Pak Media Foundation has limited resources to progress, maintain and achieve its goals. Regardless, we will always keep doing our best to get better results.
